Handsome Girl

Gladys is going to be 1 years old soon.

She has learnt to smile for the camera.

In a sexy halter neck dress that her por-por got her. She's almost jumping with joy on my bed.

A nice picture taken with por-por, who just adores her to bits. Oh, did you notice she's got a nice little hairclip?

A ride with her best friends.

She refused to get down from the kiddy ride.

A kiss for Barney before she got off reluctantly.

At the Chingay Parade. Her eyes were glued to the colourful trucks and funny people who came to shake her tiny hands.

Getting restless after awhile.

Mummy forced her for a photo with a beautiful 'Bugs' Life' truck at the background.

She seems happier taking photos with Daddy, as usual.

Bangkok Trip

I got a shock when I got back from the trip.

My brand new 2GB memory card is barely utilised. I thought I will be making full use of it since it's a 5 days trip.

But then, how to blame me right? Since my hands are always busy trying to grab and grip lil' Gladys. And also, shopping and carrying my loots.

There's not a second free for me to fish out my camera, which is somewhere in the diaper bag.

Anyway, let me just summarize the trip.

Day 1 (04.02.08)
I'm glad we took the afternoon flight, so I've got more time to get everything ready. Gladys was quite well behaved throughout, munching on her teddy puffs and hugging on to her Barney while the plane took off. A baby girl sitting on the first row, slightly older than Gladys, was wailing her lungs out. Her mother and maid took turns to pacify her. I was worried that her cryings will prompt Gladys to cry along. Luckily, she slept as soon as the plane hit cruise mode and didn't wake till we touched down. I had an asthma attack that night probably due to the dusty air con in the room.

Day 2 (05.02.08)
Didn't sleep much and had to wake up early as we had to travel some distance to the floating market. It is damn expensive ok. 1,000 baht per sampan, which is like almost S$50 and it is very scary, especially with a baby in arms. At first it was very rocky when we board at a small river, but it was better when we went into a bigger river. The traffic's crazy but they're very considerate. Even motor boats will slow down when passing us. I'm sure we'll capsize if they don't.

There are so many things there. We bought lots of fruits. They are so fresh and damn cheap. There's also noodles but we didn't get any coz it doesn't look very clean. Not that I'm particular but, I don't want any upset tummy while shopping. I'm still wondering how they return the bowls when they're done coz they'll eat on their own boat and continue down the stream.

The most astonishing thing is, I've seen people killing and and cleaning ducks along the river bank. The intestines thrown into the river and I guess these are the ducks used for the noodles. Then, just next door, one man happily rinsing his mop in the water. Yucks!

Luckily, I didn't get those noodles.

At the start of the floating market.

Gladys tied onto the sling coz I'm afraid she may just climb out of the boat.

Happy family on the boat and Gladys got a new pair of hand-made maracas.

Day 3 (06.02.08)
Busy Shopping! As it was Chinese New Year's eve, we had a nice dinner at a Teochew restaurant beside Platinum Mall. Nice roast piglet they have. Forgot to take any photos.

Day 4 (07.02.08)
Tried to cover as much places as I can. Thus, no time for photos too.

Day 5 (08.02.08)
As usual, time is never enough when you're having a holiday. Made use of the day to do more damages to my wallet, before our evening flight. We experienced the worst check-in at the airport. Took us more than an hour! Then I realised that the counter guy is a trainee. Argghhh..

Anyway, while queueing, I took the time to feed Gladys. I don't want a hungry baby on flight. We also take this time to make use of the camera.

Happy family. (But mummy already quite upset with the slow counter guy.)

Gladys was in a happy mood and decided to give the floor a mop.

Before she can do a little vacuuming, I dump her into the luggage trolley. Still cheeky and sticking out tongue. Por-por and Gong-gong also buay tahan her.

Struggling to get out!

Anyway, she has been a really sweet baby throughout the whole trip. Maybe cause it was not a long flight? Luckily the time coincides with her nap time so she slept through both ways.

Oh ya, I bought some really sweet tiny hair clips for her. Just nice for her little bunch of fringe. I'll post up some photos soon. I promise.

Leaving on a Jet Plane

Tomorrow at around this time, we will be on our way to the airport.

We will be celebrating this Chinese New Year away from home. Oh no, it's Gladys' 1st year and she's gonna miss out on the ang-pows.

I'm so looking forward to a shopping spree in Bangkok. It's been 2 years since I've last been there. But then, it's no fun shopping when there's a baby in toll.

I've not yet done any packing. I don't even dare to think about it. There seems to be so much to bring along. I foresee Gladys' gonna occupy 3/4 of my luggage space. Ok, I'm exaggerating. Maybe just 1/2.

Anyway, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that all's well for this trip. Smooth journey and enjoyable holiday. I've heard nasty stories about babies wailing throughout the flight.

Luckily, it's only about 90 mins of flight. I should be able to handle that.

Still, I can't take any chances. I'm gonna load up my hand luggage with her favourite snacks, her favourite toy, her smelly pillow and wet pacifier.

That should do. I hope.

I hope I'll be sane enough to take some nice shots to share. Wooo, I so love shopping.

Tata!

Babies

This year seems to be a good one to have kids. Heard that it's the Golden Pig year and it's suppose to bring prosper to parents.

Close friends like Jessica and Foon also choose to have babies this year.

Sometime ago, we met up for lunch at Marina Square.

From left, Foon with bb Braydon, Serene with nephew, Carmen with Easton, me with bb Gladys and Jessica with bb Jazel.

Carmen, Jessica and myself used to be really close. We used to hang out very often together. Riding on our scramblers. Never imagined that one day we'll be hip mamas.

In fact, Eric and me was on a bike trip to Koh Samui with Carmen and hubby, Jason, before conceiving baby Gladys.

Learning in progress.

For her, I've missed out a lot: fun, friends, finance.

But what I get is priceless. I've got a little bundle of joy smiling at me when I wake in the morning. I've got a smelly baby sleeping soundly with mouth wide open, when I sleep at night.

Brushing her pearlies before bed.

She's the best thing that has ever happened to me!
