Handsome Girl

Gladys is going to be 1 years old soon.

She has learnt to smile for the camera.

In a sexy halter neck dress that her por-por got her. She's almost jumping with joy on my bed.

A nice picture taken with por-por, who just adores her to bits. Oh, did you notice she's got a nice little hairclip?

A ride with her best friends.

She refused to get down from the kiddy ride.

A kiss for Barney before she got off reluctantly.

At the Chingay Parade. Her eyes were glued to the colourful trucks and funny people who came to shake her tiny hands.

Getting restless after awhile.

Mummy forced her for a photo with a beautiful 'Bugs' Life' truck at the background.

She seems happier taking photos with Daddy, as usual.

Bangkok Trip

I got a shock when I got back from the trip.

My brand new 2GB memory card is barely utilised. I thought I will be making full use of it since it's a 5 days trip.

But then, how to blame me right? Since my hands are always busy trying to grab and grip lil' Gladys. And also, shopping and carrying my loots.

There's not a second free for me to fish out my camera, which is somewhere in the diaper bag.

Anyway, let me just summarize the trip.

Day 1 (04.02.08)
I'm glad we took the afternoon flight, so I've got more time to get everything ready. Gladys was quite well behaved throughout, munching on her teddy puffs and hugging on to her Barney while the plane took off. A baby girl sitting on the first row, slightly older than Gladys, was wailing her lungs out. Her mother and maid took turns to pacify her. I was worried that her cryings will prompt Gladys to cry along. Luckily, she slept as soon as the plane hit cruise mode and didn't wake till we touched down. I had an asthma attack that night probably due to the dusty air con in the room.

Day 2 (05.02.08)
Didn't sleep much and had to wake up early as we had to travel some distance to the floating market. It is damn expensive ok. 1,000 baht per sampan, which is like almost S$50 and it is very scary, especially with a baby in arms. At first it was very rocky when we board at a small river, but it was better when we went into a bigger river. The traffic's crazy but they're very considerate. Even motor boats will slow down when passing us. I'm sure we'll capsize if they don't.

There are so many things there. We bought lots of fruits. They are so fresh and damn cheap. There's also noodles but we didn't get any coz it doesn't look very clean. Not that I'm particular but, I don't want any upset tummy while shopping. I'm still wondering how they return the bowls when they're done coz they'll eat on their own boat and continue down the stream.

The most astonishing thing is, I've seen people killing and and cleaning ducks along the river bank. The intestines thrown into the river and I guess these are the ducks used for the noodles. Then, just next door, one man happily rinsing his mop in the water. Yucks!

Luckily, I didn't get those noodles.

At the start of the floating market.

Gladys tied onto the sling coz I'm afraid she may just climb out of the boat.

Happy family on the boat and Gladys got a new pair of hand-made maracas.

Day 3 (06.02.08)
Busy Shopping! As it was Chinese New Year's eve, we had a nice dinner at a Teochew restaurant beside Platinum Mall. Nice roast piglet they have. Forgot to take any photos.

Day 4 (07.02.08)
Tried to cover as much places as I can. Thus, no time for photos too.

Day 5 (08.02.08)
As usual, time is never enough when you're having a holiday. Made use of the day to do more damages to my wallet, before our evening flight. We experienced the worst check-in at the airport. Took us more than an hour! Then I realised that the counter guy is a trainee. Argghhh..

Anyway, while queueing, I took the time to feed Gladys. I don't want a hungry baby on flight. We also take this time to make use of the camera.

Happy family. (But mummy already quite upset with the slow counter guy.)

Gladys was in a happy mood and decided to give the floor a mop.

Before she can do a little vacuuming, I dump her into the luggage trolley. Still cheeky and sticking out tongue. Por-por and Gong-gong also buay tahan her.

Struggling to get out!

Anyway, she has been a really sweet baby throughout the whole trip. Maybe cause it was not a long flight? Luckily the time coincides with her nap time so she slept through both ways.

Oh ya, I bought some really sweet tiny hair clips for her. Just nice for her little bunch of fringe. I'll post up some photos soon. I promise.

Leaving on a Jet Plane

Tomorrow at around this time, we will be on our way to the airport.

We will be celebrating this Chinese New Year away from home. Oh no, it's Gladys' 1st year and she's gonna miss out on the ang-pows.

I'm so looking forward to a shopping spree in Bangkok. It's been 2 years since I've last been there. But then, it's no fun shopping when there's a baby in toll.

I've not yet done any packing. I don't even dare to think about it. There seems to be so much to bring along. I foresee Gladys' gonna occupy 3/4 of my luggage space. Ok, I'm exaggerating. Maybe just 1/2.

Anyway, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that all's well for this trip. Smooth journey and enjoyable holiday. I've heard nasty stories about babies wailing throughout the flight.

Luckily, it's only about 90 mins of flight. I should be able to handle that.

Still, I can't take any chances. I'm gonna load up my hand luggage with her favourite snacks, her favourite toy, her smelly pillow and wet pacifier.

That should do. I hope.

I hope I'll be sane enough to take some nice shots to share. Wooo, I so love shopping.

Tata!

Babies

This year seems to be a good one to have kids. Heard that it's the Golden Pig year and it's suppose to bring prosper to parents.

Close friends like Jessica and Foon also choose to have babies this year.

Sometime ago, we met up for lunch at Marina Square.

From left, Foon with bb Braydon, Serene with nephew, Carmen with Easton, me with bb Gladys and Jessica with bb Jazel.

Carmen, Jessica and myself used to be really close. We used to hang out very often together. Riding on our scramblers. Never imagined that one day we'll be hip mamas.

In fact, Eric and me was on a bike trip to Koh Samui with Carmen and hubby, Jason, before conceiving baby Gladys.

Learning in progress.

For her, I've missed out a lot: fun, friends, finance.

But what I get is priceless. I've got a little bundle of joy smiling at me when I wake in the morning. I've got a smelly baby sleeping soundly with mouth wide open, when I sleep at night.

Brushing her pearlies before bed.

She's the best thing that has ever happened to me!

Gladys is 10 Months Old Already!

Gladys is officially 10 months old.

2 months short of her 1st birthday. I've get to plan anything yet. How ah? Any recommendations?

You may have noticed that my last post was a month ago. It's been ages since I've done any updating here. Because...

I feel so tired.

Extremely tired, to be exact.

There seems to be so many things going on everyday and I'm so worn.

Tired out by this wriggling monster who is so hyper active. God knows where she got all these energy from!

She's always crawling around, pulling herself up to stand and releasing her grip thinking that she can stand really well, but in fact, she can't.

So I've got to be constantly be on my guard. Crawling after her.

But she has also learnt many other things like kissing me on my lips, blowing bubbles with her saliva, and she's really good at clapping hands! She can also wave bye bye and it got on her nerves when she sees me changed and ready to go out.

She gets excited when she sees me. She cries when daddy didn't kiss her when he gets back after work.

She loves wholemeal bread and Gerber banana puffs. She loves fruits and is interested in every junk that I'm eating. She's starting to hate her milk.

She loves Sesame Street, Barneys and Hi-5. She hates Doddlepops.

She hates to have her face cleaned, her hair washed, her teeth brushed.

She's pretty good in potty and has saved me some diapers. I'll examine her poo thereafter. Checking the texture, the colour and such. Mummy is great, isn't it?

She's now 8.1kg, 72cm tall and her head is 45cm in circumference.

She laughs when she sees my reaction when she gave me a punch, or a slap or a poke in my eye. She loves biting me on my left arm. Sometimes I feel so battered. I'm a clown eh?

She can say Papa (daddy), Mama (mummy), Mum-mum (food), Jiejie (elder sister), Meimei (younger sister), bubbles (bubbles in her bath tub) and lots of other baby languages only she knows.

Such a miracle, ain't it?

She loves daddy more than me. I knew it when her first word is Papa. Now, whenever she shares the bed with us, she'll snuggle closer to daddy and her butt will be on my side. Sometimes if I'm lucky, I'll have her leg on my neck.

Anyway, she got on her first kiddy ride. As in, I slot in a dollar and she got 1 minute of fun.

Her maternal grandparents adore her to bits and is so protective over their 1st grandchild. Grandma is trying hard to get her attention to look at the camera. Grandpa is hiding behind Barneys and grabbing her hand, just in case she falls.

Accidents

You know Gladys just had a fall not too long ago because Papa was glued to the TV screen right. At first, I thought she just had a small little bruise on her forehead but days after that fall, I realised that the impact was on her shoulder instead when the big bruise appeared.

My poor baby.

Since then, we have been 'training' her at the edge of beds and sofas that it's very dangerous to crawl out of the 'boundary'.

One fine day, Papa was so proud of himself and he claims that he has successfully 'trained' Gladys not to crawl beyond the boundary. I thought so and believed him.

So I stood there and watched while he 'demostrates'. He told Gladys to stop and that it was dangerous to go on.

Gladys hesitated and paused.

Yipee!

But before we can react, Gladys continued to crawl and fell flat on her cheek. My goodness!

Argh, I can't believe I actually believed what men said. I shouldn't.

I picked up my crying baby and also whatever I could lay my hands on and started throwing at him. *sob*

I was shattered. It was all my fault. I let it happen.

Then another day, we were having claypot rice and when it was served, Gladys was so excited and though still in the child seat, jumped forward and reached for the piping hot claypot.

You can imagine what happened next.

She cried hysterically!

Arghhh..

I screened her hand for burns and it seems that there was no major injury but I let her hold on to an ice cup nevertheless. Then, I attempted to pacify her with her favourite biscuit.

It didn't work.

So Papa fed her with some claypot rice and it does the trick.

Babies can be so easily cheated with food lor!

And just the other day when I met up with some mummies and babies at IMM's Secret Receipe for coffee, Gladys reached out for my plate and it landed on the floor with a loud crack.

I was shocked! Luckily she was injured in this case. Luckily I didn't have to pay for the damages. And luckily I had finished the Chocolate Banana cake. :p

My goodness, I must always be on my guards at all times now that she's so mobile, and fast!

Me and my cheeky baby.

X'mas Gathering with April Babies

The party was held at The Eden. It was a long drive to our destination and I was glad Gladys slept through the journey.

Like the previous party that we went to, we had lots of goody bags too. You know, there's never too many of goody bags.

Gladys was on the mat for awhile to catch up with her friends. Here's with baby Caitlyn. She's going to Boston real soon. I'm sure Gladys will miss her.

Here's baby Keira. Gladys loves playing with her too.

And because there are just so many babies, I didn't get to take photo of them with Gladys. We had forgotten to take a group picture together. That's how a mummy's brain work. Hee..

Gladys didn't get to nap at all throughout the party. Perhaps it was too noisy. Or maybe she is just too kaypo and didn't wanna miss out anything if she slept.

A bit stone towards the end of the party.

And when I got her to pose with the Christmas hat, she seems not too happy about it.

Motherhood is so contradicting.

Gladys 1st Fall

Gladys just had a big fall down my bed about half an hour ago.

I had asked Papa to look after her while I keep the clothes into the closet.

Before anything was done, I heard a loud 'thud' and I knew something had happened.

My heart sank to rock bottom while Gladys cried hysterically.

My goodness, the right side of her face was all red and she has got a bruise on her right forehead.

I almost hammer Papa on the spot if I wasn't carrying and comforting the crying baby.

All because he was so engrossed with WWE Wrestling which was on cable.

Can you believe it?

Now she's sleeping peacefully as if nothing had happened.

I'm just gonna observe her for the next 24 hours if there's anthing abnormal.

God, please bless my baby.

Gladys Kissing Herself!

Gladys is kissing and licking at her reflection in the mirror! So funny!
