We had a trip to Penang sometime in June and there was this cute little gal who came together, who is one of my friend's colleague's daughter.
Although it was the first time that all of us met her, everyone was smitten by her, including the uncles, aunties and kids!!
She had done some modelling before and here's her doing a cat walk.
* Note the sexy 'rub-the-chest' pose! Damn hiao!
I think she grew up on honey instead of milk. She knows how to sweet talk to everyone!
She was in our car during some parts of the journey and she said that Eric's the most handsome uncle. *Ya, right!*
Then she call me Auntie Princess. How sweet is that? heehee..
But then, she is also quite naughty but no one gets angry with a pretty face. And I was telling Eric that if she is not born with such an angelic face, everyone will detest her. Hahah..
Such an unfair world, isn't it?

Gladys is Walking Already!!
You know, I was hoping that Gladys can start walking sooner so that I don't have to carry her around when I go shopping anymore.
But now that she has started to walk, it's the beginning of my nightmare!!
She wants to practice her new-found skills whenever and wherever she can!
Here's her walking her 'first' few steps. Not exactly the 'first' la, coz I was too excited to even think of grabbing the camera but then, it's one of the 'first'.

Fun Time!
We went to a secluded beach somewhere in the eastern part of the island for a camp and barbeque on 18th May 2008. The beach is clean since it is unexplored and it was a nice and windy day.
Gladys chilled out on the chair while we do the unpacking and starting up the fire for barbeque.

Here's Gladys with her ever-doting por por. She always saves her biggest smile for taking photos with her grandma. Oh, btw, that's Eric's new Land Rover in the background.

They always have so much fun together!

And here's a nice photo taken with both her grams. Cheeze!

Well, I got some free tickets for Hippo Ride on 24th May 2008. We got on the bus from the Singapore Flyer. It was such a hot and sunny day and we got a seat on the unsheltered area. Damn hot la!

Actually the ride was pretty boring as it was meant for tourists, I think. So we just treat it as a picnic trip and kept munching on the ride.

But there were nice freebies in the goodie bags and there was even ice cream. Just what we need for a hot day like this. Gladys ate quite a bit of it and she absolutely loves it!

Then on 6th June 2008, we went to the Motherhood Fair at the Expo and got this cute little neo print taken. But the quality wasn't very good and there's only 1 piece. But then I don't have to pay for it, so no complains.

Trial Class @ Julia Gabriel
We attended a trial class at Forum's Julia Gabriel with some mummies and babies from the Singapore Motherhood forum on 4th May 2008.
Gladys enjoyed herself very much. She particularly enjoyed the songs section, I feel.

She also enjoyed the story-telling part but then her concentration span is short so she was busy crawling around even before the story ends.

Then there was tea break. The snack was applesauce. She had fun although she dislikes applesauce. She hardly had any but was having so much fun playing with it. I realised that the bowl with suction was good and I bought the exact one.

She was so upset when the bowl was taken away, she cried.

Then it was playtime and she had fun with all the rides.

Can't resist taking a photo with her.

Here's another ride.

I feel she loves this car the most. She went back in again after she got off. And she was busy turning the steering wheel.

She also had fun on the slide. In fact, she was so bold that she tried to push herself down!

Group picture of all the mummies and babies!!

Here's a video of this lil' terror squashing Ashlyn Faith while going up the slide. Btw, gals, you're up the wrong way!

Hello Everybody!!
It's been a long time since I've updated this blog.
Thanks for friends who called to ask about Gladys. She's has long recovered from the dreaded viral infection.
It's just that my laptop was down with virus so I can't log on as and when.
Some updates about Gladys:
1) She is walking already. Sometimes even running! That's the beginning of my headaches.
2) She has 2 molars and 4 canines sprouting out. She already has 8 incisors.
3) She's extremely naughty and bad-tempered. Oh well, I'm to blame.
Anyway, that's all for now. I'll upload some photos very soon.
Stay tuned!!

Skinny Baby
Gladys is getting better already. She has stopped having diarrhea.
In fact, she hasn't been pooing for days. So today, she shat twice. Massive ones. But not that I mind.
But she is still not having enough pee. Her diapers are hardly full, like it used to be.
Talking about diapers. I've just switched her back to size M diapers. Yes, from size L to size M.
Coz she had lost so much weight over the last 2 weeks that those L diapers just won't fit her thighs anymore.
Sighz. My heart aches, just thinking about this.
Anyway, I should be glad that she's well, so other problems are not really a problem.
Her appetite still hasn't improved much though. Like she can barely finish a quarter of what she normally eats.
Earlier this evening, I've prepared a super yummy porridge of chicken liver with spinach in ikan billis stock. But she only manged a few mouthful.
How to gain back her weight like that?
Being a mother means endless worries.
PS: I wish bb Isabelle get well soon!!

Happy Mother's Day
Wishing all mummies a Happy Mother's Day!!
Dear hubby didn't do anything special for me leh. I didn't even receive a present or anything.
The only present I got was a bouquet of flowers from.... My dear mother!
At least, she made me felt appreciated. I also gave her a bouquet coz I know she loves flowers too.
We just went out for dinner with my parents and in-laws at Ah Yat Seafood.
I didn't really had much coz my stomach is still upside down.
I didn't manage to take any photos coz I was busy feeding and entertaining Gladys at the same time and this girl was actually quite cranky probably due to her stomach upset.
In fact, she still have runny poos. About 3-4 times a day so its actually considered mild.
But then, she's not eating and drinking well. So I'm quite worried that she's not getting enough nutrients and fluids into her body.
I've just spoken to Dr Tan on the phone. He said that if she's not drinking Pedialyte/ barley/ rice water/ glucose, then she's not really getting fluid into her body.
That explains her dry diapers.
Yes, her diapers are mostly dry, except when it's filled with foul smelling poo juice.
See, isn't it contradicting? When the diapers overflow, we complain. When it's dry, we complain.
Her pediatrician actually said that it'll be best if we can put her on a drip. Then she'll probably get well sooner. Otherwise, this viral infection she got will probably last for 1-2 weeks or worse case, 1-2 months.
But then, we can wait coz it will just go away by itself.
My worry now is not the diarrhea part since I'm convinced that it'll go away, sooner or later.
My worry is how to get her to drink what she's supposed to drink to make her feel better. To rehydrate her body.
Otherwise, her condition will worsen.
Sighz.. This is one very unhappy monther's day..
Until we came home from dinner and she suddenly got a super leaky diaper of poo and it got onto her dress and my bed and she was bawling like mad! I thought it was a super bad day.
But immediately after I changed her, she was like normal and was playing with her flashcard and then she spotted the I-card (ice cream). What she did melts my heart.
She held the card with one hand. Then the other, grabbed a ball of ice cream and put it into her big mouth with a big "armmm", then looked at me and gave me the most cheeky smile.
And she did it again and again till the 3 scoops of ice cream were 'gone'.
I didn't teach her that and I don't know where she learnt it from.
But I tell you, it just dramatically turned my super lousy day, fantastic!
This became one great mother's day for me! And I guess, this is what mother's day is all about.

Wost Day of my Life!
Today, my world almost collapsed.
I've always taken things for granted. I've taken Gladys for granted.
We had a jam-packed weekend and both of us enjoyed ourselves. Saturday, we met the forum mummies for a pre-mothers' day buffet lunch. She was a little warm to the touch during the late afternoon and I thought it was the weather.
Sunday, we attended the trial class at Julia Gabriel's at Forum. She was her usual self, cheeky and active. She didn't want her milk and I thought coz she was too excited with the activities.
However, Sunday night, she developed fever. I gave her some medication. Monday, she seems ok but at night, the fever came back again. I got worried when it almost hit 39 degrees. She became quiet and sleepy, so unlike her usual self.
She's always good at eating but she lost interest in food. I thought she must be going through some teething discomfort coz her gums are quite swollen.
Yesterday, she's ok again and was active as before. But still, she has no appetite for food. In fact, she vomited half-way through her dinner at 7pm. She also has some spots on her tummy and back and I assume they are heat rash as her limbs and face are ok.
She vomited again at 11pm, and again at 2am this morning. I gave her medicine for vomitting and also something for the gas or wind and she slept through till I thought she could be hungry and gave her a milk feed at 5am but she only took half of it and again when I fed her at 12 noon.
I had a dental appointment to collect my new set of retainers at 2pm and a gynae appointment to have my pap smear done at 3.30pm at Mt Alvernia, so I thought I could at the same time bring Gladys to see a doctor.
Gladys vomited again at 3pm and all that came out was just plain liquid and it was quite smelly and also the rashes sort of redden and it was then that I got really worried.
But the time I was done at my gynae, it was quite late and I thought Dr Terence Tan's clinic will be really packed and I didn't wanna wait. So I brought her to the A&E instead.
The doctor on duty said that it is actually very dangerous for a baby to be losing liquid and yet, not replenishing it. I know, but whatever goes in, comes out. I panicked.
The doctor also advised that Gladys be admitted for a day to be monitored and also to be put on a drip. Gosh, my world almost collasped.
He also advised that I contact my paediatrician for his opinion, and the hospital contacted Dr Terence Tan on my behalf. I was told that he'll be with us in 30 mins.
Tell you, this 30 mins is the longest wait. I was feeling extremely depressed by then.
But the 30 mins turned into 1 hour coz Dr Tan has an emergency to attend to. But when I saw him, I was so happy coz I know he can save Gladys.
As usual, Dr Tan was very patient and gave us a detailed analysis on her condition.
Gladys had 'fake measles'. It is that bad.
But actually it wasn't that serious. Just that the dehydration part is a bit dangerous, especially for a baby.
The symtoms of fake measles is that there will be a fever for 2 to 3 days. After the fever subsides, there will be red spots appearing.
But how to explain about the vomiting?
Gladys is unlucky coz she also caught some viral infection. I'm not sure where she got it from. But it explains the vomiting and watery stools.
She was also given a pill, to be stuff up her butt. My heart broke when she cried so hard. But at least, she seemed to be feeling better now although her appetite did not improve.
We were given medication and to monitor her for tonight. If her condition doesn't get better tomorrow, we may really have to admit her at the hospital.
Back home, she didn't eat anything except small pieces of plain bread. That's all she's willing to eat, not even her favourite Gerber puffs. I also gave her Pedialyte to replenish her fluids.
Now, she's sleeping so peacefully. I know she must be really tired. I can't imagine such a tiny body battering such awful bugs.
I'm so tired now coz I didn't rest well for days but I just can't sleep. You know, the feeling when your heart just felt so heavy?
I just hope tomorrow, she'll wake up feeling better.
God, bless my baby.
PS: Actually, I really feel so fortunate to have her as my daughter. Like today, despite being unwell, she still manages to charm those nurses at the dental clinic and gynae clinic. Her 'hello', 'bye bye' and flying kisses are so sweet. I even got a free Gerber goodie bag coz of that.
Actually, some are still doubtful of her gender at this stage. Ok, maybe she's not the cutesy princess type but you can't blame her for looking like her daddy mah. But still, she's the one and only, apple of my eye.

Updates
I have not been diligent in updating this blog for the past month. Anyway, here goes..
We met up with Jessica and lil' Jazel. Here's Gladys and Jazel chilling out on the nice sofa at Coffee Club. Gladys was upset coz she didn't have anything to munch on while Jazel's enjoying her cookie.

Gladys hao lian, fish out her box of cookies. Jazel got upset and turned to complain to her mummy. Gladys can't wait and started licking the box instead.

And here's Daddy bringing lil' Gladys out for some shopping at Vivo City.

We brought her to the kids' playground for a lil' playtime.

Here's Daddy and Baby posing for a photo.

We had to send off my cousin at the airport. Gladys immediately 'demanded' her grandparents to walk her around.

Still walking around happily. But then the problem is, she can't walk on her own yet. But still, she insists.

Sometime ago, I had almost lost Gladys chow-chow pillow outside. Luckily, I found it when I back tracked my path. So dear por-por got this super huge bag of bean sprout husks from the market and we had a hard time sorting it out. The dried husks will be made into an extra pillow for her, you know, just in case.

As usual, she's damn vain. When I put on the specs for her, she immediately crawled towards the sofa, climbed up and smiled at her own reflection. She was also swaying her body from side to side and waving like mad. Oh, poser.

I like this a lot! It's like some lil' rocker chick. But then, the pacifier spoils it all. Gosh, just wondering how I'm gonna ever wean her out of it.

Krabi Trip
We've actually came back some time ago but the thought of working on this lousy laptop just puts me off.
Anyway, some photos you all have been waiting for.
These 2 can't wait for a swim in the pool. Picture was taken from our room's balcony.

What you see is what you get. The pool is only this huge. There was a 'children's pool' at the side but it looked more like a pond so I didn't bother.

Trying to take a nice photo of father and daughter but the lil' one is more interested in counting pebbles.

This is better, at least her eyes are on the camera. But her hands are still busy with the pebbles.

Hardly a nice picture of me with Gladys coz you know, my hubby's photography skills are just not good.

Gladys is more excited playing with pebbles than to swim in the pool.

Still focusing on the pebbles.

Daddy gave up and joined in the 'fun'.

And here's Gladys feeding me a pebble. It tasted ok.

You wanna try?

Big and small Chia hit the pool everyday. But I only got to swim for 2 days only coz my big auntie came for a visit. Duhz.
Anyway, this is a picture of me and a dead beaten Gladys together with Nika and lil' Travis.

We rented a bike from the hotel to travel around Krabi. Petrol is definitely not cheap. It's almost equivalent to the cost in Singapore. But I was pretty excited coz this is the first time Gladys got on a bike. She enjoyed it pretty much, I think. So much that with the breeze and all, she'll doze off.

The weather was good but the sun was scotching hot! So to hide away from the heat, we'll find air-con joints for a drink.
Gladys enjoying my favourite Green Tea Frappa.

Can you see the shiok look on her face? Now, pass me that drink, won't ya.

Hey, I like this photo pretty much coz I think she look really sweet with the sun hat. But Daddy has got this whip cream still on the corner of his lips. Gosh.

Oh, while we were there, it was also the Thai's water festival. However, we chose to travel by car instead coz I didn't want our babies to catch a cold. Not to mention, some actually used iced water! Wooo.. But the people are really nice coz when they saw us with babies, they won't splash water at us. I said she's like my amulet, preventing me of getting splashed at.
But Daddy was pretty upset coz his main intention of coming is to take part in this fiesta. So Nika and me, together with our babies, went back to the hotel for a nap while the guys hit the road on their bikes.
Yes, they came back drenched.
This is how jammed the roads are. At the back of those pick-ups are barrels of iced water. They also threw powder at their victims after they got wet. *ouch*

Everyone was enjoying at the prime area by the beach. Our car was badly hit by the powder war. Sexy babes are also top targets.

I do enjoy this trip coz I really got to spend time with both hubby and baby.
However, as we drove all the way from Singapore, Gladys got a bit of motion sickness and puke couple of times along the way and back. Luckily, being the kiasu me, brought sufficient changes of clothes.
I'm looking forward to our next trip, probably to Australia, at the end of the year.
